6. One or more languages?
Several languages mean added value
Where there are several partners, there is greater diversity in those using the same language, which affords opportunities for exchange between native and non-native speakers (for example, Germans, Austrians and Swiss for whom German is the mother tongue, and other pupils for who German is a foreign language).
The more the pupils in the participating classes use all the languages they are learning or in which they are proficient, the more plurilingualism and multicultural experience they will acquire.
As regards the development of linguistic skills proper, obviously a pupil who has a grounding in several languages can expand his knowledge and progress more quickly by reading (written comprehension) forum contributions in those languages.
Colleagues as well as participating pupils expressed their satisfaction at being able to follow our forum in four languages.
