Monika Fritz’s recipe (university preparation programme of the Universities of Vienna in Austria) seeks to bring students from abroad together with local students.

Ingredients:

* An international group, which is preparing for a course of study learning a foreign language (in this case German)
* Local students who want to teach this language

Preparation:

Bring the international student group together with the prospective language teachers and set specific tasks to be carried out (i.e. cultural activities), during which personal contacts may be made.

These gatherings furthermore provide an opportunity for discussion, evaluation and immersion in each students pre-study course.

A special flavour:

Contact with the university familiarises the international students with the local area, optimising their preparation for study.

Contact with international students provides additional practical experience to the future local language teachers. The benefit is thus mutual.
