7. Learning without a teacher
When students prepare their own lessons, they gain twice the benefit. This is the basis of the following recipe by Anna Arutshyan from the State Linguistic University after V. Brusov in Jerewan in Armenia.
Ingredients:
* A group of language learners
* A collection of themes, through which a target language can be acquired
or practiced
* Classrooms, media and materials, as available
Preparation:
The topics are distributed and the schedule is announced. Each student is then told to select a topic and a term. In this unit, the student in question then assumes the role of the teacher. He/ she must prepare the topic, prepare materials, provide the relevant introductions and lead the discussions.
Side dishes:
Of course, the “teacher-less” class has to have a guide. Indeed, this person takes on the tasks of organisation, counselling, guidance and information (for instance, when different language levels pose a problem).
And there is still a lot to do in terms of mediation for group-dynamic problems ...
