2. Fearless in front of the projector!
It need not always be the teacher who carries out assessment – since students can do it themselves, according to a recipe by Penka Taneva-Kafelova at the Technical University of Sofia - Plovdiv Branch in Bulgaria.
Ingredients:
* Students who learn presentation techniques as part of their programme
of study (in the English language in this case)
* Instructions for presentations
* Evaluation sheets for assessing the individual presentations
Preparation:
At first, a standard approach should be taken to teaching presentation techniques, to enable each student to present a topic selected by him/ her in a short speech (using PowerPoint).
These speeches are then scheduled so that each student has a turn.
All students receive the same evaluation sheet for each paper, which includes the main criteria for assessing the presentation. Assessment is done using a point system and is, of course, anonymous!
At the end, each participant receives all the evaluation sheets relating to his/ her work, allowing him/ her to gain an idea of how successful his/ her performance was.
