The standards required for a pass in each category of the Inspection checklist

The table below is set out in the same order as the Inspectors' checklist, and should be read in conjunction with that document. For each clause of the Code of Practice (left-hand column), a requirement is specified in the middle column. This indicates the required standard needed for an institution to obtain a pass in that area. In the right-hand column, suggestions are made as to how the necessary evidence for assessment should be gathered.

The standards require interpretation by inspectors in the context of each inspection.
The relevant questions are:

• Has the standard been met?
• If so, has the standard been exceeded or so well met that a grade of 'excellent' (1) is warranted?
• If not, why not, and what does the institution need to do in order to meet it?
