David Little is Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Head of the School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences at Trinity College Dublin. He has published widely on second and foreign language learning and teaching, with particular reference to the theory and practice of learner autonomy. He has been involved in the development and implementation of five ELPs, for primary learners of English as a second language, secondary learners of ESL, adult migrant learners of ESL, secondary learners of foreign languages, and university learners of foreign languages. He was a consultant to the ELP Validation Committee from 2000 to 2004 and vice chair of the committee from 2004 to 2006.
Hans-Peter Hodel, Dr. lic. phil., Upper Secondary Schoolteacher diploma, teacher of French as a foreign language at the Obwald cantonal school in Sarnen (Switzerland), instructor in the teaching of French as a second language in the Teacher Training College/Lucerne. Read Romance studies, English studies and education at the University of Fribourg (CH) and Philadelphia (USA) and applied linguistics at the University of Basle (CH). Member of the CDIP Expert Group on co-ordinating language teaching in upper-secondary schools. In charge at inter-cantonal level of language exchanges. Instructor in in-service training courses for teachers. Specialist areas: out-of-school learning, European Language Portfolio, European Common Framework of Reference, CEFR-related evaluations.
Viljo Kohonen is Professor of Foreign Language Education at the Department of Teacher Education, University of Tampere, Finland. His research interests include experiential learning theory and practice, transformative learning in the teacher’s professional growth and collegial school culture, and authentic assessment in foreign language education. He was a member of the ELP Validation Committee from 2000 to 2004 and has been an invited consultant to a number of national ELP projects.
Dick Meijer recently retired as Senior Curriculum Developer and Language Teaching Consultant at the Institute for Curriculum Development in Enschede, The Netherlands. He has coordinated several national projects concerned with foreign language teaching, including the project to translate the Common European Framework of Reference into Dutch. For the past five years he has been coordinator of the national project to develop and implement the European Language Portfolio in the Netherlands, and for the past two years he has been involved in developing a new curriculum for language teacher education (Hogeschool Inholland/Amsterdam). He has published several articles on foreign language teaching and the European Language Portfolio and is the co-author of several textbooks for German as a foreign language
Radka Perclová, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Charles University, Prague, coordinated the development and implementation of the ELP in the Czech Republic. She teaches TEFL methodology in pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes and is interested in foreign language teacher education in general.
