Since its foundation, the ECML has trained six to seven young graduates a year. During their time at the ECML, certain trainees
have taken up a special project involving the drafting and designing of
a special website on learning and teaching their own mother tongue.

As a basis for the discussion in the 1997 ECML Colloquy, Modern language
learning and teaching in Central and Eastern Europe: Which diversification
and how can it be achieved?, national reports on the situation of modern
languages learning and teaching in the individual countries were submitted.

Here the ECML provides a platform for research related to the themes
of its activities. Experts, whether involved or not in the ECML's work, are
invited to use our site as a showcase for papers that correspond to our
