The climax of our project was the workshop of 4-7 December at the ECML. Here
we presented our work and findings to a group representing almost all the
Council of Europe countries. Groupwork was carried out in order to suggest
how we might adapt our material for Younger Learners (10-12 year olds) (YLs),
Second Language Learners, as well as those working with Foreign Languages
other than English, which had been the language we had principally worked
with during the project (the conclusions of this latter group was that the
material did not need to be adjusted). An Intercultural ‘know-how’ group was
also formed, to work with the findings from the essay competition. Additionally,
two groups spent some time working on drafts of listening can-dos for YLs
and lower secondary school pupils.
The findings of the groups were incorporated in the documents below. In should
be noted that these documents contain revisions and suggestion in draft form,
and are not ‘finished objects’. It is hoped they may be useful to those who
wish to develop material in these areas.
